Summary of Insurance Terms
Short-term insurance for motor vehicle hire. Applies to cars up to 3500 kg. When booking a car placed on the platform by Hyre, you buy insurance from Pareto directly as part of the price. Other car owners on the platform have insured their cars so that you receive the same terms as with Hyre's cars.
This is a summarized information about the insurance. For complete information about what the insurance covers, and which limitations apply, please refer to the link with the insurance terms at the bottom of this page.
The insurance applies to vehicles rented from Hyre and is for the benefit of the renter. The insurance applies for the same period as the rental period for the vehicle. The rental contract states the start and end date of the insurance.
You can choose different insurance coverages, and below is a presentation of the deductibles you must pay depending on which insurance you have purchased.
The deductible insurance is an insurance that reduces the costs that the car rental company can claim from you in the event of damage. One deductible is charged per damage incident. The coverage that applies to your specific insurance will be stated in the rental contract.
As a user of Hyre's services, the following terms apply:

- Damage when participating in or practicing for speed races

Important to know
What are my obligations?
Always follow the insurance's and rental company's duty of care requirements and terms. If you have not followed these, you may receive lower or no compensation in the event of an incident, depending on how your lack of care affected the damage. These are some of the duty of care requirements:
- Always lock the car when you leave it.
- Keep the keys in a safe place and not near the car.
- The driver of the car must not cause damage due to intent or gross negligence.
- The driver of the car must always have a valid driver's license and must not be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other intoxicants.
See also Hyre's terms for renter.
When and where do I pay?
You must pay the full cost of the insurance to the car rental company before it takes effect. This is done when creating the rental agreement.
When does the insurance start and end?
The insurance applies for the same period as the rental period for the vehicle. The rental contract states the start and end date of the insurance.
How do I terminate the agreement?
You can cancel the insurance with the rental company before the rental period starts. If the rental period has begun, you cannot cancel the insurance.
Grossly negligent driving/recourse
As a result, you may also have to pay, in whole or in part, for damage caused to someone other than yourself, e.g. the other party's vehicle in a collision (this is called recourse).
Damages under excess
In the case of minor damage that is below the deductible, the renter will only be charged the total cost (repair cost), not the full deductible.
Reduced deductible insurance
Must be purchased separately upon entering into the agreement. If the renter has purchased deductible insurance, the standard deductible is reduced to what appears in the agreement.
