Planning a family visit this weekend? Do like Frida Elise Pettersen and travel with Hyre.

Frida Elise Pettersen, a 28-year-old consultant at RAV, lives with her partner in Torshov. Both are from Vestfold, Sandefjord, and Tønsberg respectively, so renting a car when they visit family is a perfect solution for them.

– We go on a family tour every time we head home, Frida says with a laugh.

Freedom When You Arrive

Both have large families on different sides, so to make sure they visit everyone, Frida and her partner rent a car from Hyre. It’s cheaper than taking the train and gives them much more freedom once they arrive.

– Having your own car lets you travel around when you’re in town too. The freedom of having a car when visiting family is brilliant, Frida explains.

She mentions that they often visit grandparents and siblings in addition to their parents during these trips.

– It’s much easier to take the initiative to do things with our nephews when we have our own car. We don’t have to rely as much on the people we’re visiting.

Renting Instead of Owning

They have considered buying a car but realized they don’t need one often enough to justify the cost. Instead, they set aside 700 NOK each month for rental expenses.

– If we go over that budget, we might reconsider buying a car, but so far, we’ve stayed well within it. It’s much cheaper to rent than to own!

Frida and her partner previously used other car-sharing services but eventually switched to Hyre.

– The price is pretty similar, but with Hyre, you get newer cars, and there’s no hassle with key handovers because of the keyless sharing system, she says.

Planning to Continue Renting

The 28-year-old doesn’t only use Hyre for family visits. She also rents cars for errands or trips to IKEA.

– If we need something from IKEA, we just swing by Slependen on our way to Vestfold. It works really well, and it’s definitely something we’ll keep doing!
